About CEDR

The Code is underpinned by an Independent Dispute Resolution Scheme operated through CEDR Limited (CEDR).

CEDR is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute as the ‘competent authority’ acting on behalf of the Secretary of State for dealing with Disputes that are raised with the Developer from the Reservation date until two years after the date of Legal Completion.

The Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) is a UK Charity (1060369) that provides dispute resolution services to consumers when they are unable to resolve a dispute directly with a business. CEDR is approved by the government appointed Competent Authority, Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI), to resolve disputes related to new homes.

CEDR is a member of the Ombudsman Association, the UK trade body for consumer dispute resolution, and is currently represented on the Ombudsman Association Board of Directors. CEDR delivers dispute resolution to the highest standards recommended by the Ombudsman Association and is compliant with the Associations case handling and service standards competency frameworks.

CEDR provides dispute resolution for consumers in more than a dozen sectors with approval from CTSI, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Gambling Commission and Ofcom. CEDR also provides dispute resolution services to several public bodies including the Court of Appeal for England and Wales, Department for Education, Department for Transport, The High Court of England and Wales (Queens Bench and Chancery Division), Homes England, the NHS, Ofsted, Solicitors Regulatory Authority and the Regulator for Social Housing.
